My First Still Life Painting

My first full-color oil painting was memorable back in 2018.

After a few years of 9-to-6 office life, I found myself missing my drawing pencil. I had forgotten about what used to be my favorite hobby - sketching. So, I went for charcoal drawing class and eventually decided to learn oil painting.

As you can see in the photo, my painting is at a very beginner level. Most of the time, I enjoy the learning process and the interaction with classmates. I didn't understand contrast and color as much as I do now, and I didn't know how to handle the textured line on the ceramic pot. That was my first time painting flowers and the fabric in the background.

Overall, I feel a sense of achievement in completing this still life oil painting.

Art teacher set this up for us:

Paintings of my classmates with different style and personal taste. Some of them struggled to complete the painting and some did very well.
